2. Safety¶
PAROL6 is a desktop robot, light enough to lift with one hand, and it can still hurt you: it pinches, it moves fast, it moves by itself when it homes, and it falls when it loses power. This chapter is short. Read all of it before the first power-on, and have everyone who works at the robot read it.
Danger
The project's Safety Warning and Disclaimer applies to everything on this site: the hardware, the firmware, the software and this documentation are under development, and you build, modify and operate the robot at your own risk.
In this chapter¶
- Intended use: what the robot is for, and what it is not
- Hazards: pinch points, the fall on power loss, induced voltage, hot motors, the tool
- Emergency stop: what the E-stop does, and what it does not
- Moving the robot by hand: when it is allowed and the two things never to do
- What the robot protects against, and what not
- Planning the cell: the person, the guarding, the program
