About this manual

Scope and audience

Stub. One paragraph on what the MSG Gripper Manual covers, who it is for, and what must be read first.

Finding your way

Each tab in the header is one document: the arm, the control box, programming, the dashboard, the end effectors, simulation, and support. Inside a document, the left sidebar lists its chapters and reference sections; the right sidebar lists the headings of the open page. The logo returns to the PAR6 Hardware Manual.

Hardware manuals (the arm, the end effectors) are revised with the hardware and do not depend on the software version. The Control Box Manual, the Programming Guide and the Dashboard Guide describe one runtime version each; the dropdown next to the site name switches between versions, and a page from an older version says so in a bar at the top. The repository card on the right of the header opens the source of whatever the open page describes. Every page ends with two links: one to edit the page, one to report a problem with it.

Warnings and notes

Three kinds of highlighted text appear in this documentation. Read every Danger and Notice before you act on the step it belongs to.

Note

Points out something that is easy to miss or that changes what follows: a default, a limit, a side effect.

Notice

The robot, the tool, or data on the control box can be damaged or lost if this is ignored. Nobody is at risk.

Danger

Someone can be injured if this is ignored. Stop and read the whole box before acting on the step it belongs to.

The software guides describe one runtime version each, here 1.1; the manuals carry a revision and describe a hardware revision. Which versions of the runtime, the client, the drive firmware, the control box, the arm and the description package work together is listed under Support → Versions & compatibility, together with each part's release notes.

Document history

The MSG Gripper Manual does not depend on the runtime version. It describes the hardware revision named on its landing page and is revised as the hardware changes.
