# Intended use

PAROL6 is made for education, research, hobby robotics and light automation on a bench: pick-and-place of light
objects, camera and sensor experiments, teaching robot programming, prototyping a task before buying an
industrial arm. It is an open-source, 3D-printed machine assembled by its owner or by a small workshop, and it is
not a certified industrial robot.

**Use it**

- on a bench or frame it is bolted to, in a dry room
- with a payload within its rating: 1 kg near the base, 0.5 kg at full reach, tool included
- with the E-stop connected and within reach
- with the person who runs it able to see the whole arm

**Do not use it**

- around people who do not know it is a robot: children, visitors, a crowded desk
- for anything that must not fail: it has no brakes and no joint position feedback, and a lost step is silent
- with tools that cut, heat or spray without your own guarding and risk assessment
- in wet, dusty or hot places, or outdoors

A self-built robot is the builder's responsibility from the first screw: the currents, the wiring, the limit
switches and the mechanical stops are all yours to get right, and the [Build guide](https://docs.source-robotics.com/PAROL-docs/1.1/build/) says where
the mistakes are made.
